About "MBSR"

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) an 8-week intensive training in mindful meditation, based on ancient healing practices, was developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, by Jon Kabat-Zinn. MBSR is considered the 'gold standard' stress intervention, and is offered in many medical centers, hospitals, and clinics around the world, including some of the leading integrative medical centers such as the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine, the Duke Center for Integrative Medicine, and the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center for Integrative Medicine. MBSR gives us the opportunity to cultivate life-long tools to help relieve pain, manage anxiety, cope with illness, increase productivity, improve sleep, sharpen focus, and feel a deeper sense of peace.

The course begins a one-hour introductory meeting, and 8 classes, 2.5 hours per session with a full day silent retreat between weeks 6 & 7, for a total of 27 hours of class time on 10 meeting dates.

About the Facilitator: Dr. Jeanne Kloeckner

Jeanne has a unique and holistic approach to mindfulness, fueled by several avenues. As a pediatric occupational therapist, Jeanne has worked in schools, hospitals, outpatient clinics and community-based facilities since 1980. Jeanne has developed an expertise in self-regulation intervention for clients with challenges around impulse control, task focus, emotional regulation and social skills. She is also a yoga instructor, and has been teaching since 1996; and is certified in yogakids. Jeanne is trained in several complementary modalities including Cranial Sacral Therapy, Myofascial Release and Healing Touch. In 2015, Jeanne completed training in Mindfulness-Based-Stress-Reduction (MBSR) at the Center for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts, where she was delighted to discover a strong correlation between mindfulness and self-regulation. Jeanne earned her doctorate in occupational therapy from Washington University. She lives with her husband and daughter, and their five chickens in St. Louis, Mo., and is the founder of Mindful Solutions StL.
